![]() ![]() If you do this, the audio will glitch FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THAT LEVEL. The way we do this is: You have to manually play a message (play newest unready diary) the same frame that a message automatically starts. We are going to glitch the audio messages so we do not have to wait for these doors. In Bioshock 2, some doors require audio to play before they open. They are simply too deep for that.So this is the first audio skip in the game. So, concluding this review I must say that Bioshock games will never get outdated. And I think that the setting of Rapture is more interesting for me than the setting of Columbia. And as someone who absolutely loves immersive sim games (I absolutely admire Deus Ex games from Eidos Montréal and games of Arkane Studios such as Dishonored and Prey) I enjoy Bioshock 2 more than Bioshock Infinite as well. I actually think that the original Bioshock and Bioshock 2 both have elements of immersive sim game, while Bioshock Infinite is lacking them or simple has less amount of them. However, even that this is also a amazing game with Ken Levine himself being worked on it, and it also has so famous female videogames character as Elizabeth, I still more enjoy gameplay of Bioshock 2. Bioshock Infinite somehow continues to work with ideas of children/parents problematics in Booker DeWitt's story. ![]() The fact that Eleanor's decision in the finale will be based on Subject Delta's actions during the walkthrough of the game is an example of brilliant game design. The endings in first Bioshock are amazing, but I like more the idea behind endings of Bioshock 2, which is so simple and yet is so deep, as it's about how children see their parents as role model. So, both Bioshock and Bioshock 2 together create a very deep and complete experience and this is why I love both games, while still enjoying the second one more as a game. It reminds of how both Andrew Ryan and Sofia Lamb were driven by attempt to do a greater good and none of them viewed himself or herself as bad person or despot. ![]() Especially adding that behind early capitalism was still often a democratic ideology (if we speak about many Western countries), while part of soviet ideology was communism, which is basically a perfect society or utopia in is core (which never existed and probably impossible to achieve). It must be also said that both unregulated capitalism and autocratic socialism brought us a lot of bad things during the history. With Objectivism and Collectivism being exact opposites of each other I think that the original's Bioshock's take on ideas about philosophy of building a perfect society and human nature feels incomplete without Bioshock 2. Not to say that no matter which philosophical system we apply to build our society, human nature might destroy everything in any case. In my opinion, the main idea of both Bioshock and Bioshock 2 is that neither Objectivism, nor Collectivism are not without their flaws. If we will dive deeper into analysis of main ideas of Bioshock and Bioshock 2, I think those two games fit one another just perfectly, with first game being focused around Objectivism, while second game being all about Collectivism. Not to mention that its soundtrack is also very good just like in the first game - a sad violin hits you hard in the main menu right after launching the game. So, all this together just makes playing in Bioshock 2 more enjoyable for me. And those in-game moments when you has to walk around ocean's floor in big daddy's diving suit immerses player much better into the setting of Rapture. The character's movement system was also improved in Bioshock 2. But moreover, it has slightly different artistic style which I prefer over the original. Even if we speak about remasters, it' still pretty easy to notice that Bioshock 2 simply looks better. I also like the graphical improvements of Bioshock 2. The fact that you can use both plamisds and weapons at once makes the combat mechanics much better for me. To further elaborate why I like this game more than the first one, I want to say that one of reasons is gameplay. However, this game still uses ideas of the original Bioshock, and as a result we can say that the touch of Ken Levine presents in this game as well. I know that father of the series, Ken Levine, did not work on Bioshock 2. I find it a bit funny and also kinda strange that some people actually don't like Bioshock 2. There are rumors about Bioshock 4 to be in development but right now in 2023 this statement remains to be true. This is my favorite game of Bioshock series.
